LEDIX - AN INTELLIGENT LED LIGHTING 29.08.2012

LEDIX is an intelligent LED lighting system with a set of innovative solutions. This innovation refers to both solutions applied in LED lighting fittings and control and supply equipment.

Due to the implementation of a developed functionality of intelligent lighting, the LEDIX lighting fittings are divided into lighting fittings with a built-in:
- motion and twilight sensor,
- battery backup,
- radio receiver,
- RGB radio controller.

Lighting fittings with a built-in motion and twilight sensor

The lighting fittings with a sensor: MOZA, MUNA, RUBI, NAVI (power supply: 14V DC and 230V AC, without RGB diodes). They are dedicated for mounting in the Ø60 junction box. The motion sensor is based on the PIR type element and enables to switch on the fitting after motion has been detected in the sensor’s detection zone (motion is detected from maximum 3 moff the lighting fitting and with an opening angle of 120 degrees). The fitting remains switched on from 2 to 35 seconds (it depends on the potentiometer’s ”time” adjustment) after there is no more motion in the detection area.The twilight switch allows to switch on the lighting fitting only at a specified luminous flux intensity (the sensitivity of the twilight switch is adjusted between 2 to 20 lx by means of a Lux potentiometer). An important advantage of the motion sensor lighting fitting is an additional potential-free 1NO contact with a maximum load capacity of 3A. This allows to build simple lighting control systems lighting in passageways and stairways at minimal costs, e.g., the lighting switches on in response to a detected motion - it is enough to mount a lighting fitting with a motion sensor at the beginning and at end of the passageway - the other lighting fittings may be standard.

Lighting fittings with a built-in battery backup

Selected lighting fittings as: MOZA, MUNA, TIMO, RUBI i NAVI (14 V DC version) are equipped in a built-in NiMh battery. As a result the light is switched on and can illuminate the passageways up to 1,5 hour after the power supply failure. When the supply voltage is on the battery is charged for about 10 hours. The battery charging process is fully controlled by means of an electric circuit, which allows to extend the battery’s life. Apart from the battery backup the lighting fitting can be switched on / switched off by means of a typical bistable switch. They can operate in one out of three modes depending on the connection:

  • The lighting fitting is continuously switched on - during normal operation it uses power from a power supply and after a supply voltage failure it uses the battery backup (for about 1.5 h maximum). When the supply voltage is on the battery is charged for about 10 hours.
  • Battery backup switched on / switched off manually - the lighting fitting is switched on / switched off by means of the ON / OFF bistable switch. After a supply voltage failure the lighting remains on or not, it depends on the BCKUP switch position. In this configuration, during operation based on the battery backup, it is possible to to switch off the lighting fitting by changing the BACKUP switch position.
  • Battery backup switched on / switched off automatically - during normal operation the lighting fitting can be switched on / switched off by means of the ON / OFF switch. After a supply voltage failure the lighting fitting is automatically switched on into battery backup (the light remains on for about 1,5 h). When the supply voltage is on, it returns to the same status as it was before power supply failure.

 

Lighting fittings with a built-in radio receiver

Selected lighting fittings: MOZA, MUNA, TIMO, RUBI, NAVI (14 V DC and 230 V AC versions, without RGB diodes) are equipped in a built-in radio receiver. With this option it is possible to control easily the lighting fittings without additional wiring to the switches. The lighting fittings cooperate with a wide range of wireless transmitters of EXTA FREE (www.extafree.pl) system as: smart and functional wall transmitters, remote controls, modular transmitters and radio motion sensors RCR-01. 32 different transmitters can be added to a single lighting fitting, and a single transmitter can cooperate with an unlimited number of lighting fittings, which are within its operation range (average 50m). Unlike the traditional lighting systems, the application of lighting fittings with a built-in radio receiver does not limit the users to a single switch system. At any time it is possible to develop the installation by adding a transmitter to the existing lighting fitting thereby expanding the functionality. Lighting fittings with a built-in radio receiver are not only simple to install and easy to control, but also there is a possibility to switch them on / switch them off, to change their luminous flux intensity (brightening / dimming), and to switch them off automatically after the adjusted time is over within the range of 1 sec. to 18 hours. Due to the internal memory of the device, switching off a lighting fitting or power supply failure do not decodes the adjusted lighting level. Transmission between the transmitter and the fitting is carried out at a frequency of 868.32 MHz. In order to exclude accidental switching on / switching off and mutual interference of several lighting fittings installed in a short distance, the transmission is appropriately coded and secured. Easy installation, functionality of control and reliability are undoubtedly the advantages of this solution.

Lighting fittings with a built-in radio RGB controller

Selected lighting fittings: MOZA, MUNA, TIMO, RUBI, NAVI (14 V DC and 230 V AC versions, with RGB diodes) are equipped in a built-in radio RGB controller. These fittings and the ones with a built-in radio receiver can cooperate with selected transmitters of EXTA FREE system, and also with a dedicated P-260 remote control. The functionality depends on the transmitter’s type cooperating with a particular lighting fitting. P-260 remote control allows to switch on / switch on a lighting fitting, to change the luminous flux intensity (brightening / dimming) and to to change fluently the lighting colour by means of a touch field. Additionally, it is possible to switch on the automatic fluent (FLOATING) or step (STROBE) lighting colour change programme. In case of purchasing a P-256/8 remote control, the user has a possibility to choose one colour out of eight from the default setting instead of fluent choice of the lighting colour, and the user has no possibility of brightening and dimming functions. In case of the rest of transmitters, only their switching on / switching off function is possible. A great advantage of the lighting fittings with a built-in radio receiver is the possibility of adding 32 different transmitters to one of them. This solution allows to choose the lighting colour and to activate the automatic programmes from the P-260 remote control. However, the switching on / switching off function can be done by means of the wall switches by the user. What is more important, the adjusted lighting colour, mode or the operation level of lighting fittings is remembered after switching off the fitting or power supply failure. The advantage of this type of lighting fitting is the ease of installation and a possibility of a direct connection of the lighting fittings with the RGB diodes to a typical 2-wire installation. They are designed for flush mounting in 60mm junction boxes.


 

The completion of the extensive LEDIX lighting fittings group is a separate group of control devices - LED controllers. In connection with standard LEDIX lighting fittings or other LED products of 10 to 14V DC (LED lighting fittings, LED tapes, LED modules) they allow to create a lighting system with great possibilities and extensive functionalities. The group of LEDIX controllers include:

1. One-colour diodes controllers:
a) SLR-01 - wired and wireless control, flush mounting
b) SLR-02 - control by means of a potentiometer in 1 -10 V standard, flush mounting
2. RGB diodes controllers:
a) SLR-11 - wireless control, flush mounting
b) SLR-12 - wired control, flush mounting
c) SLR-13 - control by means of a potentiometer in 1 -10 V standard, flush mounting
3. DALI controllers (the controllers allow to apply the LEDIX lighting fittings in buildings with large areas, where lighting control is done by means of DALI bus. The above solution allows to divide the building into segments, which leads to a more effective lighting control in the whole building.
a) SDL-01 - one-colour diode controller, flush mounting
b) SDL-11 - RGB diode controller, flush mounting
4. RGB diode amplifiers (designed to cooperate with RGB controllers, they are applied in situations where the RGB product capacity exceeds the maximum capacity of controllers or in case of a very long RGB installations:
a) WLN-01 - surface amplifier, output capacity 3 x 4 A
b) WLP-01 - flush amplifier, output capacity 3 x 2,5 A
5. Radio flush receivers:
a) ROP-03 - a possibility to cooperate with any type of lighting (LED diodes, halogen and traditional lamps), two independent relay outputs
b) ROP-04 - designed to cooperate directly with LED products of 10 to 14 V DC, three independent transistor outputs
6. Touch switch: WDN-01 - a touch switching on / switching off, additionally with the function of brightening / dimming, PWM output for a direct cooperation with LED products and a relay output to connect any circuit with a maximum load capacity of 5A, surface mounting.
7. Touch remote control + the kit:
a) P-260 remote control - a touch field used to fluent lighting colour selection, to brightening / dimming, a programme of a fluent and step colour change (FLOATING, STROBE)
b) SLR-11P kit - P-260 remote control + RGB SLR-11 controller, a possibility of adding new EXTA FREE system transmitters.

 

LED power supplies also belong to the LEDIX system. The applied technical solutions are a guarantee of a long, reliable, operation, maximum of a safety use (overload and short-circuit protections) and good technical parameters.
When the nominal value of the power supply output voltage is taken into account, we can divided it into two groups

a) 14 V DC output voltage - dedicated specifically to supply the LEDIX lighting fittings in 14V DC version. This voltage in connection with the inner design of the LEDIX lighting fittings guarantees the highest lighting efficiency (maximum luminous flux intensity at a minimal power consumption)
b) 12 V DC output voltage - it is the most common LED product supply on the market (such as LED tapes, LED lighting fittings, other LED lighting sources)

A wide range of LED power supplies casings allows to choose an optimal device due to its mounting (in both power supply options):

- modular power supplies - designed for TH-35 rail mounting
- surface mounting power supplies - a possibility of a direct mounting on furniture panels, cardboards and designed for outdoor use and in rooms with a high degree of humidity (bathrooms, kitchens), IP56 protection degree
- flush power supplies - a possibility of a direct mounting in ∅60 junction box.

A wide range of output power allows to select optimally a power supply to its dedicated use. When the output power is taken into accont the following LEDIX power supplies are available:
